This 3-day, 2-night Rinjani trek, starting from Senaru and concluding in Sembalun, is recommended for individuals with a good fitness level. While the views are similar to the Sembalun-to-Senaru route, the primary difference lies in the starting point and estimated completion time. The trek is expected to take between 23-24 hours in total, finishing around 3:00 PM – 3:40 PM on the final day.

Preparing properly is key to enjoying your Mount Rinjani adventure. Here’s everything you’ll need to pack for a safe and comfortable journey:

At 7:00 AM, your driver will take you to the Senaru starting point (601m).
Register at the Rinjani National Park Office (passport required for tickets).
Begin trekking through dense tropical forest. The first 45 minutes lead to Post 1 (900m) for a short break.
Continue for 3 hours to Post 2 (1,500m), where you’ll have lunch and a longer break.
Hike for another 2 hours to Post 3 (2,000m), still within the rainforest. Be mindful of brown monkeys that may try to steal small bags.
After a short break at Post 3, continue for 25 minutes to exit the rainforest and enter open savanna with stunning views.
After a total of 2 hours 30 minutes of ascent from Post 3, reach the Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m).
Enjoy a spectacular sunset and views of Mount Baru Jari, the Gili Islands, and Mount Agung in Bali.
Dinner will be prepared by your guide, and you’ll camp overnight.
At 7:00 AM, have breakfast before descending for 2 hours 30 minutes to Segara Anak Lake.
Visit the natural hot springs, just 10 minutes from the lake.
Enjoy lunch by the lake, relax, and then begin the 3-hour ascent to Sembalun Crater Rim.
Enjoy dinner and camp overnight at Sembalun Crater Rim.
Get an early night’s sleep to prepare for the summit climb.
Wake up at 2:00 AM for a light breakfast.
Begin the challenging 3-hour (or more, depending on speed) ascent to the Summit (3,726m). The climb involves a steep sandy section (1 hour at 45 degrees elevation) and another very difficult 400m section (45 degrees elevation with loose rock and gravel). Follow your guide’s instructions.
Reach the summit and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Lombok, the Gili Islands, Mount Agung (Bali), and Mount Tambora (Sumbawa).
After photos, descend from the summit to the campsite (Crater Rim) in 1.5 to 2 hours.
Have breakfast prepared by porters and prepare for the 5-6 hour descent to Sembalun village (including lunch en route).
Upon arrival in Sembalun, your driver will meet you and transfer you to your next destination.
